hi, i've been searching for a good foundation. and no success! i find that all foundations, look like im wearing it, i've tried so many brands, revlon, cover girl, estee lauder, mac and clinque. does anyone else have this problem? like you can't see it if your a bit away but if you look right up close you can see all the make up, i've tried moisturizer, and primer. maybe that鈥檚 what its suppose to look like up close? i hope I鈥檓 explaining my self ok. hopefully anyone could shed some light? since i'm going to have to start wearing it everyday, and at the moment i feel really conscious that everyone is staring at my faceGood foundation make up help!?!?!?
I feel your pain! I used to feel soooo self-conscious when I was around people at close distances and felt like my makeup was always obvious! But, after searching for dozens of foundations just like you, I discovered that the foundation was only 50% of acheiving flawless natural skin: The other 50% was all in the application technique.
*For me, I find that liquid foundation offers the most natural coverage. You could try powder foundation but i find that it tends to change color throughout the day and you must reapply it because it tends to melt down. Anyways, I really liked Loreal TrueMatch Liquid foundation and it offered good coverage, blendability, and lightness. Plus it matched my skintone quite well. As well, I also really like Coergril TruBlend Whipped Foundation - it may feel a bit creamy, but it goes on very sheerer and mattifies your skin. Plus it actually lets your real skin show through. Whihever you choose is up to you depending on your skintype, but these two are my favorites.
Application Technique:
1. Once you choose your foundation, get a makeup sponge and dampen it. By wetting the sponge, some of the pigment in the foundation is retained within the sponge so that only enough of the makeup is applied to the skin. The extra foundation that normally ends up caked up on the skin looking unnatural is held in by the water in the sponge.
2. Using light strokes, make sure you applky the foundation all over your face EVENLY. As well, be sure to spread the foundation along your neck to prevent any noticeable lines of demarkation.
3. Get a concealer brush and apply any concealer to hide severe areas of redness, undereye circles,or blemishes if you have any. I find that by using an actuall concealer brush, the application goes on much more professional and accurate.
4. With a large fluffy brush, sweep a bit of translucent powder on your face to set your makeup.
5. Carry oil-blotting papers with you in case you end up getting shiney throughout the day. These are sooo much more better than pressed powders, as these do not add more cakey makeup on, but remove the excess oil, making you look polished and refreshed.
****By the way, stop worrying about what other peopel think. I realized that I could always nit-pick at my skin and always pick apart myself and look at the magnifying mirror all i wanted, but I wasn't doing myself any good. You got to accept the flaws you have and wear confidence and personality. In the end, its only you who really notices it. I mean, just the other day, I had 2 HUGE zits right between my eyebrows for all to see, but when I went to the department store makeup counter, the ladies couldn't stop complimenting and aweing at my beautiful porcelin skin. I guess I was the only one who though the zits were huge.
but yeah, just don't worry about it - if you did everything you could, just accept it and ejjoy your self.Good foundation make up help!?!?!?
liquid foundations are more discreet, try a not so thick one and you麓ll look more natural.
I use MAC studio fix and it works good for me...I just apply it with a brush instead of a sponge and I make sure it spreads evenly and well....have you tried bare minerals...I haven't tried it regularly just a sample and it worked fine however MAC covers just as well for a lesser price...
Two words: Bare Minerals.
BareMinerals is like the best foundation that I've ever used. It's absolutely amazing. You will look flawless every time you wear it without looking like you're wearing makeup. And with heavy foundation, you can always tell when people are wearing it. Don't worry it's not the way that you put it on. Another plus is that BareMinerals clears your skin as you wear it, which I think is pretty amazing for foundation. it can be pricey, but it lats for at least a year. If you're going to get it, I would buy the Get-started kit.
I've tried every foundation as well as you, and I have found that Lancome and Nars foundation work the absolute best.
I tried Bare Minerals, and it really did nothing for me. I have pretty good skin, but I have a couple acne scars, and maybe an occasional blemish or 2. So when I look for foundation, I want a foundation with buildable coverage, looks natural, and lasts long. I don't like having to keep touching up my makeup.
I absolutely adore this one by Lancome, it's amazing.

But seriously, all lancome foundations are extraordinary. I really like this one as well, by them.

And by Nars, they have an amazing foundation which I use too, and it's this one.

Also, be sure to use a translucent powder to set foundation, and make it last all day. I love Laura Mercier's, and Vincent Longo's.
Hope this helps!
I used to have the same problem you have. What really helps is finding a good moisturizer. Moisturizer can cure everything, I think! If you find a good moisturizer that will help blend in the foundation and it will look completely natural. The best foundation I've ever used is Mary Kay foundation. They also have great moisturizer. After applying the moisturizer and the foundation you have to wait a bit for the foundation to set. Because it's non transferrable (won't rub off onto clothes) it'll look a little darker than normal at first but after about 2-3 minutes it looks completely natural. I love it and swear by it. Thanks,
Kendra
I use Beauticontrol's foundation. No one believes me that i'm wearing make up because it looks and feels so natural! Its amazing stuff, really. check it out at www.beautipage.com/jwhittey
