I need suggestions on a type of foundation to buy. I can never seem to find the right match. I am a cool beige complexion with some slight reddening on my cheeks and forehead from acne that has recently went away (I am on my final month of Accutane). I still have some scars to cover up as well. Also, my skin is VERY dry and flaky now. I absolutely have to wear sunscreen on it everyday.
I would also be interested in any color advice. I have very pale green eyes, a pinkish beige complexion, and light ash brown hair with platinum blonde highlights. What eye shadows, mascara, and eye liners would look good? What lip colors? Blush?
Thanks for answering my questions!Foundation and other Make up Advice?
I have dry skin and applying liquid foundation just makes my skin flakyf. Not sure why. Anyway, I have switched to Bare Minerals and I am amazed at the coverage, even for my dry skin. It makes you look radiant. Go to one of their stores, if you can, and get them to do your makeup. They have developed makeup that covers redness and acne and it is healthy for your skin. Sounds like you might look pretty in natural colors, pale lipstick, light, natural colored eye shadows or pale blues, silvers. You just have to experiment with what shades of mascara, eyeliners, etc.Foundation and other Make up Advice?
When looking for foundation for dry skintypes, make sure that you look for cream-based formulas or hydrating liquids. Steer clear of powder foundations as this stuff is the ultimate in creating cakiness and flakiness. Lancome and Estee Lauder have some rich creamy moisturizing formulas that go on sheer and flawlessly, but they are quite expensive. If you are not willing to fork over that kind of dough however, opt for a foundation from the CoverGirl Line. There stuff is awesome and will not lead to breakouts. By the way, if your complexion is not that bad (that is, you don't have any more pimples and bumps) opt for a tinted moisturizer (or mix one part foundation with one part moisturizer) and apply over your face. This should be just enough to even out your complexion. THen, using a bit of concealer (Loreal TruMatch Concealer is ultra-blendable and natural looking), just dab a tad of it on previous acne scars, any areas of significant redness, and any current blemishes you may still have.
***By the way, kudos for you to wear sunscrean everday. However, make sure before you apply your foundation, that you apply a really richy hydrating lotion to your face, allowing it to fully absorb into your pores before putting on makeup. Try Olay Total Effects Facial Moisturizer.
As for your color advice, Iheres my advice.
1,. To bring out the beautiful pale green in your eyes, sweep an iridecsent shadow over your browbone to highlight your eyes. Then, using a deep plum shade, sweep the eyeshadow over your crease; this will contour the eyes and really make them POP. After, gett a lighter purple shade- almost a grayish purple, and sweep it over the eyelid. Next, get an eggplant color eyeliner (or if you prefer, dark brown), and line the upper lashline with it, smudging it with a q-tip afterward for a natural and sultry effect. Lastly, apply 3 generous coats of lengthening mascara to acheive a bright-eyed effect.
***If purple is too much for you however , you can opt for taupe shadows (a mixture between light brown and gray) to line your eyes. Then, and heres the pop, apply purple MASCARA to create a more subtle but still eye-enchanting look.
As for your pink beige complexion, play up some of the warmth by applying a sheer pealescent bronzer to your cheeks and temple. This will make your skin glowy rather than ruddy and dull. Then for blush, apply a cream cheek stain in apricot to counteract the redness in your cheeks. As for your lips, pale pink lipgloss will finish off the look perfectly.
By the way, light ash brown hair is beautiful for this look, but have you ever considered a darker more richer chestnut color? I don't know what you look like, but maybe try that for a more eye-opening effect. The darker the hair, the more yoru pale green eyes are contrasted, and therefore, the more they pop.
Anyways, hope htis hel[ps
Go to the Bee-Luscious web-site at beeroyalproducts.com and send them an email with your photo. That's what my friends and I did. They are very good at matching skin tones. They will send you a few samples and you can see which color you like best. I guarantee they will be able to help you. Also their products are th very best I have used. Great quality and superb customer service.
If its dry, make sure you use moisturizer everyday before you put any foundation on.
Shiseido has a wonderful pressed powder foundation that is also a SPF 45 sunscreen [about $35, find it at Macys and sephora]. As for the tones, you dont have to have one thats exactly, exactly your skin tone, it should be really close but dont worry if its like 1/2 a shade off, it'll work. Ask the people at the makeup counter and theyll help you.
I think brown mascaras, light shimmery lip colors, peachy blushes, and gray or brown eyeshadows would look nice on you, but play around with a few colors and test them out to find what looks good.
hope I helped!
wow.. a few questions.. first things first.. i think you should invest in a decent foundation.. its confusing because there are so many out there.. ive always used revlon make up.. but.. there are other brands out there that have great coverage like prescriptives which is a new one.. and the people mix it for you to suit your exact coloring.. really good idea.. its pricey but worth it.. you can never go wrong with a black mascara.. i use chanel inimitable which is great and the brush is perfect. if i was you, for blush id use a really nice light pink or peachy color with some gold flicks in it or something similar. lip colors id stick to nude.. or pinky colors. you cant really go wrong with nudish colors.. and for eyes.. green is fantastic if you have green eyes.. or grey would be great as well..
i would first get one for dry skin,i allways go a shade darker than my skin cuz i too have scars on my face i also took acutane,i use a liquid and than i take a powder one over that it seems to cover more, the powder pat it instead of wiping it on it covers scars betteri put on a face lotion first the best is oil of olay.light gren eye shadows or mauve colors would look good .do a medium shade on lid a darker shade in crease and a lighter shade above.you could go green ,mauve, and green again,i use the same color eye liner as the eye lid color .if i use green shadow first i use a darker green eye liner, mascara allways use a black or brown they look best,a pinkish lip color would be nice and a blush i would go towards a pink scince you have a pinkish complexion any ways. i hope my advice worked and good luck. just experiment .buy your eye shadows in trio packs cuz thats the colors that go best together.
ok so i had the same problem, but then i found stuff that i LOVE!! its a Clinique product and it has this acne clearing stuff in it...
it is color number 7.
just go into Clinique and they'll know what to give u=D
When picking and buying foundation always pick a color closest to your skin type, go to a makeup counter at your department store and try on different shades. Since you have acne, always use an oil-free foundation with medium to deep coverage if you have some blemishes left on your face. Once you clear away your acne marks, you can go to a sheer coverage.
For your dry skin always go with an oil-free moisturizer. There are also new on the market moisturizers with salicylic acid for acne skin.(Try a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen for the summer.) Remember, to cleanse with a cleanser that has salicylic acid, this will clear up your skin and prevent future breakouts. (Clearasil has a great acne line.)
For eyeshadow, use earthly colors like browns, or also light wine colors and a light pinks.
Eyeliners: try any color really, off black, browns, and purple. Just smooth it across the eye and blend for a smokey affect.
Lips: I always blend colors together to achieve the color I want. You could use pinks, burgandy, and corals.
Blush: try light to med. pinks and corals.
Marcara: is no big deal it's all in how you apply it and for when. For a day look go light and for night go dramatic and apply it a little deeper(off black, black and brown) are fine.
Remember, makeup should be fun and easy. Always experiment at home with different colors to acheive the look your comfortable with. Caution: when you go to a department store to try makeup be careful, many customers try makeup. When trying on lip gloss or lipstick never apply directly to you lips. Ask them for a q-tip and use the insert the q-tip in the gloss once, and for lipstick use the color on the middle of the tube never the top. With eyeshadow use cotton balls, and mascara use fresh mascara wands, ask the sales person if they don't have them, don't apply mascara with a public wand.
Christian Dior is great and its only $50.00
Its a great makeup and worth every penny. Its all that I use. Check out their website. I use Christian Dior sculpt liquid foundation. Good Luck.
And make sure you do not use Clinique. I used it. When you pay cheap , that is what you get. It drys your skin. Beleive me, I have two of their foundations that are completely full.
