I just started using make up base and foundation.?

I'd like to keep applying my existing sunscreen (different brand) cos it has high SPF. What is the sequence : shall i apply sunscreen before make up base and foundation, or the other way round ?I just started using make up base and foundation.?

Sunscreen first but, high SPF is just the length of time the sunscreen will block the UVB rays. A higher SPF really doesn't cover much more. An SPF of 15 covers roughly 95.5% while an SPF of 50 or so protects up to 98% of UVB rays. Which is just the Burning rays... you can still get cancer... Also, 95% of the rays that hit your skin each day are UVA rays which actually account for about 80% of your skin aging... only 5% of the rays you get are UVB rays... Can't wait for the US to implement a UVA ray regulation system! =) (My fave sunscreen is Anthelios SX by La Roche-Posay.) Good luck!
yeah, sunscreen always goes first but most foundations already have SPF, try one of those next time, they'll save you time %26amp; effort; besides, your sunscreen might not be compatible with your foundation and your complexion might look weird in a couple of hours
sunscreen, primer, concealer, foundation, power. dont put the sunscreen on last. over powder, it'll make it look cake-y. and if you dont put it on first, then it'll make your face oily looking.
skip all that jazz and buy foundation that already has an SPF. much easier/faster. but to answer your real question, put the sunscreen on first before anything else

my mom is 45 and my aunt is like two years younger. they have both worn makeup their whole lives (and taken it off at night) and everyone thinks they look like teenagers, especially my mom. i've actually had guys I liked say she was hot. NO it wont- there are many reasons why makeup can actually benefit your skin, so for those of you who have been mis-informed here's a little education.





First of all I want to clear the myth that makeup clogs your pores... Yes, some do, if they have certain types of oil (Mineral Oil) in them. However, many foundations don't clog, if they claim to be NON-Comedogenic they will not clog your pores. Read ingredients and labels.





Secondly, most makeup nowdays has sunscreen. SPF is your main defense in anti-aging!! A definite benefit for skin in the long run.





Third, many high quality foundations (not cheap crap at the drugstore)come with additional skincare and treatment benefits such as antioxidants, added moisture for dry skin, or oil control for oily or acne prone skin, there are even natural minerals in some forms of makeup. There are so many different types that do good things for your skin! And you will pay a pretty penny to get these benefits.





Lastly, makeup can provide enviromental protection to the skin. Besides the antioxidants in many formulas, makeup creates a barrier between skin and the environment. Pollution, smoke and other stuff out there sticks to it, so when you wash your face you remove all this junk that may have gotten into your pores! :) hope I helped out

Wearing it for hours on end everyday clogs your pores so your pores are clogged even if you wash it off.Try to use mineral foundation :)


That being said though, if you have perfect skin and use foundation in moderation you can still mantain good skin.


My nan is 73 and she wore it in moderation when she was younger and she would wash it off with a noxzema cleanser and icey water and her skin is soooo perfect! It's soft as soft can be and hardly and wrinkes and no spots.

well i ONLY wear eye liner (and that's it!) 5 times a week, or when i'm going out, when i'm at home i NEVER wear it, organic surprisingly looks good on me, but so does makeup. lolz. well here's the thing i exfoliate every night and well the eyeliner comes off easily, so far so good 4 me. but you seem to be using quite a far bit. BUT FOUNDATION EVERY DAY IS SUPER BAD!!!! it clogs up all your pores and you get acne and irritation, can cause wrinkles. if you stop wearing it, you won't need it because you won't have acne to cover up. DUH.

if you dont like your skin and you want to use foundation everyday to make yourself feel nicer, go to wals pharmacy and theres alot of skin , moisterising creams that make your skin look gorgeous and you wouldnt need to wear makeup
definitely only use mineral concealor OR foundation, or a good tinted moisturiser on your skin. makeup can make your skin look healthier but it wont really be that healthy. i think a mazimum of 3 products five days a week will be fine for your skin, but no more as YES IT WILL BE BAD FOR YOUR SKIN, as you cant get every bit of makeup off once it has sunk into your pores during the day. =]
Yeah, foundation does block your pores and apparently lipstick also slowly lessens the original colour of your lips.

Experiences of any1 who's had an allergic reaction to a foundation/make-up please?

Hi! A week ago now I had make-up applied at a local salon. Foundation and a cream blush by a famous brand name. 2 hours after I had very hot, burny, itchy skin that was red and blotchy. I figured it was a reaction and took it off. I haven't worn any product since. 6 days later, symptoms of burning and stinging, redness etc still there, I went to the doctors. He gave me a shot of 12 steroid tablets (6 to take that day, and 6 the day after) and 7 anti histamine tablets to take for a week. 2 days in, no change. Am just panicking that it wont settle. The burning, soreness on my face is so uncomfortable and I can't wear any make-up coz skin feels to raw and sore. Will this redness, burning etc go of it's own accord in time? I have low self esteem about my skin anyway...so no make-up is just a nightmare for me! Totally lesson learned tho' re. new make-up and skin patch testing first!!!! Any help? Well it isnt as severe, but my sister when we went to America had a beauty makeover makeup trail thing that you get in department store. It was Clinique or something, I think, some pretty posh stuff anyway.


The next day, her face was bright red with rashes.





It stayed for like 4 days. She used aqueous cream, you can pick it up in most drug stores and places like boots, even supermarkets. Its like a moisturiser for super sensitive skin. It calmed down the itchiness and made the redness go down.

yeah..actually it was really bad i had to go the hospital and get antibiotics my skin flared up really bad...i was using a tinted moisturizer form dove i think it was and it started to burn and everything..now i buy covergirl its an oil free and hypoallergic or something like that and its really good..foundation i have to be really careful with too..you'll be fine it will go down in a few days

My skin lately has been very oily, probably bc it's summer and humid and my skin is reacting bc I can't remember having to use so many blotting papers. I have dry skin so I use liquid foundation , my mother has oily skin so she uses bare mineral make up. You should too. And never wear your moisturizer underneath it. Before you put your make up on rub your skin with ice and then wipe and use the make up. The colors appear more bright.
I think mineral makeup because it's a powder that will absorb the oil on your skin, the liquid may make it worse considering oil...and then liquid foundation can be oily looking sometimes.
Don't use liquid foundation because that can just make your face seem even more oily. Mineral makeup can make your skin seem smooth and natural! Give it a try! Good luck! :)

I think they have the only liquid foundation that I've ever tried that I actually like. But I don't like the way any liquid foundation feels (like, I don't like feeling like i'm wearing makeup) so I just stick to my bare minerals.

Make up / mineral foundation that is water resistant??

I am going on a holiday to Cairns in December and I cannot wear full on make up everyday due to the fact that we'll be in the pool and at the beach all day. But, I want something to put on that'll give me a clear complexion - something like mineral foundation. You can use a MAC Fix spray to make it last longer and make it more resistant ... it won't be waterproof though. Kryolan makes a spray that will make it waterproof but you will have to order if it from a professional makeup store.
