Like others are saying, mineral makeup is going to give you what you want. You won't be able to feel it on, it'll look natural not cakey and you will get full coverage. Sephora or Bare Escentuals boutiques can color match you and give you a sample of the foundation. I'd recommend doing this instead of getting the newbie pack.
What's great about mineral makeup is you can stop using it for ages and it won't go bad. Just keep it dry :)
I agree with emilie's suggestion of tinted mosturizer....I too hate the caked-up look! with a passion.It's so plastic...
However, there are times when you need to use someee make-up, and i find tinted mosturizer to be helpful...in fact to avoid to much of that i put on some regular mosturizer first(which is light) probably not as much in amount as the normal since I'm going to be using tinted mosturizer over it..spread it over 1st...to moisten the face..while face is still moist, quickly dot over your face the tinted mosturizer...say about 5 dots in strategic places....application will be more fluid,smooth and easy since the face is already moist...

if u r going to go with airbrush makeup then use Dinair Airbrush Makeup...ive been using it for years now and i LOVE it...i did a lot of research on it when i was looking around to buy airbrush foundation...i found out that Dinair was the originators in airbrush makeup...also another difference is the other airbrush brands do not have waterproof makeup..having waterproof is awesome cause it sits on top of ur skin and doesnt clog ur pores so its not bad for ur skin...it also makes it super light weight so u get a flawless but natural look...its the best makeup ive used..anywho, hope i helped...=)
Get a mineral based foundation like ID bare minerals.
its light and it literally melts onto your face, it gives good coverage, without that heavy makeup feeling.
Bare Minerals is super good. Its expensive though. Have them put it on your face so you can find your exact face color :))
get a tinted moisturizer, it won't ruin your skin an it gives a light coverage but is effective.
I mostly end up beginning on sale and using a few different ones. Do what fits your situation and Im pretty sure your instinct will be right.

Is wearing foundation, concealer & loose powder too much make-up?
I have pretty good skin. I usually only use concealer for my dark circles and loose powder on top of that. I was looking into using foundation but I wasn't sure if it takes a lot away from a natural look or if its too cakey. Any suggestions or comments about wearing foundation?
I was also looking into using primer because I use eye shadow pretty much everyday but it usually wears off during the day..do you have any experience with using primer? Has anyone tried the Too-Face Shadow Insurance?Is wearing foundation, concealer %26amp; loose powder too much make-up?

My undertones are about 60% yellow and green, with the rest equally red/pink and orange. (English, Jamaican, Irish, Indian, Scottish, Iranian, Welsh.) I live in the U.K and my skin isn't exactly radiant, i'm quite pale considering, which makes finding the right foundation even harder.

They will show you how to apply the makeup, and you can see exactly how it looks. So, you won't waste money guessing at products that might look good at the drugstore. With foundation, you definitely want to go outside and look at it in natural lighting. They will even give you samples to be sure before you buy. It's not more make up you need. If you wear make up daily, you should be washing your face daily.
I use Neutrogena face wash which really helps keep my skin smooth and (most of the time) pimple-free! Almost any day you wear make up (apart from JUST eye shadow, lip gloss, etc. {stuff that covers a big portion of the face}) you should wash your face before you go to bed.
My sister says that you SHOULD wash your face at LEAST once a day, but that could just be an over exaggeration. I don't know!
The maybelline concealer is pretty good. Great coverage. And maybe you should try revlon colorstay and l'Oreal. They're pretty good. Go to www.makeupalley.com they have reviews on all brands of makeup.

I'm 14 and I have pale skin (i'm from Ireland so what do you expect) haha. But i'm finding it impossible to find a foundation for my skin colour. I've tried loads of stuff, but I don't have the confidence to wear them out in day time, as I would look like a ridiculous orange twat. I can just about wear them when i'm going out. It seems that if regular foundations look ';orange'; on you you have been wearing something which is either beige or apricot toned. These shades are mroe suited to those with warmer complexions. For very fair skin I would recommend using a foundation which is more ';pink'; toned. These tend to come with shade names such as Ivory or Porcelain.
Perhaps speak to a consultant on one of the prestige counters such as Dior or Chanel and they will be able to accurately recommend the perfect shade for you. The only thing to remember is to not just don't be swayed by the consultants' hard sell! Only buy something which you are 100% satisfied with in terms of colour and texture. If after trying you do not wish to buy then don't! At least this process will gice you an idea of what kind of a tone you are after.

I'm very pale too and I've tried almost every foundation you can think of. It's a nightmare trying to find one that doesn't make you look like you've been tangoed. O_o
I use Avon's mineral foundation in it's lightest colour. It looks a bit darker in the pot but it goes on quite light and it gives good coverage too. It's better for your skin too compared to liquid foundation.
In saying that though, I do use liquid foundation sometimes and my fave at the moment, is L'Oreal's Infallible foundation in Ivory. It's not bad.

It seems that if regular foundations look ';orange'; on you you have been wearing something which is either beige or apricot toned. These shades are mroe suited to those with warmer complexions. For very fair skin I would recommend using a foundation which is more ';pink'; toned. These tend to come with shade names such as Ivory or Porcelain.
Perhaps speak to a consultant on one of the prestige counters such as Dior or Chanel and they will be able to accurately recommend the perfect shade for you. The only thing to remember is to not just don't be swayed by the consultants' hard sell! Only buy something which you are 100% satisfied with in terms of colour and texture. If after trying you do not wish to buy then don't! At least this process will gice you an idea of what kind of a tone you are after.

I'm very pale too and I've tried almost every foundation you can think of. It's a nightmare trying to find one that doesn't make you look like you've been tangoed. O_o
I use Avon's mineral foundation in it's lightest colour. It looks a bit darker in the pot but it goes on quite light and it gives good coverage too. It's better for your skin too compared to liquid foundation.
In saying that though, I do use liquid foundation sometimes and my fave at the moment, is L'Oreal's Infallible foundation in Ivory. It's not bad.
Make Up:Foundation or Powder?
I'm no expert on make up infact I try and avoid it cause it may be bad for my skin but now I realize that I may need it for special occasion so I was wondering if you guys could help me with choosing make up like foundation or powder which ever is best for my dark skin shade. I used dream matte by maybeline it was too dark and there was no shade closest to my skin colour, so yeah I don't know how to choose make up lol

I agree. I would go to a department store. I would deffinately check out MAC for sure. I just started buying this makeup and it is an investment for sure but having a good foundation for your face is like having a good foundation for your house. The MAC artists can match you up with their products quickly an easily, but you'll have to watch it because they are sales people too so be firm if you are not interested in buying after trying on the products. When you get there explain to them what kind of skin you deal with before you wash your face in the morning and after you wash your face, because this can guide them to what time of product will be best for you as your question states here. Foundation or Powder?

Different make-up companies will have different shades i'm sure. Powder will be less heavy than foundation, so it is up to you what look you are going for as to whether you choose foundation or powder.
go into a department store or sephora and get color matched - foundation is the one of the things you should always spend a little bit more money on .
try mac , clinique , mufe , bobbi brown etc
You need a brand that has numerous in-between shades for women of caramel/chocolate/cinnamon complexion.

MAC has all these tones and shades to chose from for lovely darker skinned women as well. The product is great!

i saw go for MAC's mineralize skin finish. it pricey but since you're only wearing it for special occasions and it lasts a long time, then you'll be fine. and MAC caters well for women of colour (yea!!!!). its a powder foundation and its really easy to put on, plus the amazing people in the stores can actually show you how to use it. (just go in for the foundation - they push you to get something else! MAC's too good to say no, so BEWARE!). or, if you ever get into some cash, then try bobbi brown cosmetics - she caters to women of all skin colours, its ridiculous!!!! they also last long, so i guess the price doesnt really matter. but if you're worried about makeup on your skin, try bare minerals cosmetics. they cater to women of colour as well and their makeup is natural (at least, i think so....). the bare minerals is kind of messy if you're in a rush but thats why i highly recommend the MAC's mineralize skin finish. its an amazing powder - you will love it.

I would reccommend maybelline pure makeup (the one that's 50% water) for beginners because it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything at all. Then use Neutrogena healthy skin blends translucent powder on top (it's very sheer, but it will still keep your makeup in place).

Mineral foundation will not only give you the coverage you need, but give you the coverage without clogging your pores and making your skin feel like you have a mask. I personally like Everyday Minerals because they have a wide arrange of colors to accomodate your dark skintone, but they are only available online. Drugstores also have a variety of mineral foundations that offer great skin benefits comparable to the department store brands. I would not choose a powder for your special occasion, unless you're pairing it on top of a foundation because a powder will virtually give you no coverage what so ever. Hope this helped!

Make Up, Foundation Issue!?
I have really blotchy skin, lots of blemishes, dry patches, and dark circles under my eyes.
I'd like to cover all those things with make up, but I can't find one that looks natural. I have bare minerals, but I can't get it to not look powdery and sink into the creases around my eyes.
I wash my face twice a day, tone, moisturize, and medicate where needed.
It also seems like no matter what kind of foundation I use, it highlights all the fuzz on my face. I'm not hairy, just a little fuzzy. I don't think I'm the only one!
Any suggestions on what make up I should use or a new technique I should try?Make Up, Foundation Issue!?
If it highlights the fuzz, then you're either using the wrong foundation, or you need to epilate.
Now, don't use Bare Escentuals. It's not that great of a product. Instead, invest in a high quality concealer (salmon) for your dark circles and maybe a green concealer for red areas. Since you have dryness issues, don't use a powder or mousse foundation. Use a liquid, probably a high end formula as you need coverage but don't want to clog pores. Skip the powder, it just makes you look cakey and accentuates dryness.
If all else fails, perhaps get a facial and consult with a beautician/dermatologist about better products to use.Make Up, Foundation Issue!?
first you might want to try switching up you face wash/ toner/ moisturizer you might also want to add in an eye cream and you might also want to exfoliate it will hellp to get rid of the dry dead skin cells and will help your moisturizer soak into the skin better.. (moisturizers molecules are too big to be absorbed by the eye tissue.) a consultation with a makeup artist can help they can show you what to use to help even out your skin tone and help you to pick out the right foundation for your skintype/colour etc.

If your skin is like that then use your cover up like you are, just limit it and spread it around more. Use a different brush...it's not the powder most of the time. Also wear makeup around your eyes...make your natural features stand out more and the less they'll look at your eyes :)
