Make up foundation completely got into camera; blank black screen but options and old pics still show.?

I have a canon d-something... 1000.

and i kept my foundation and camera in the same bag,

and my foundation bottle (glass) broke.

so the camera was completely covered with foundation.

while cleaning, i think i accidentally broke this film-like thing,

while reaching into the camera edges that were covered with foundation (i used things with small sharp edges to get into the tight areas).

even after that, the camera worked perfectly fine,

minus the fact that the audio was static-filled.

I tried taking a few pictures, and it worked perfectly.

on my 7th picture, the screen went completely blank,

minus the options.

So i could still change the setting to macro, automatic, etc.

Everything still works, and i can even take pictures (w/ or w/o flash !)

but the only problem is that I cant see what pictures im taking anymore.

Because the screen where the preivew should be, is blank (minus the options).

this wasnt the case for the first 7 pictures i took.

any suggestions ? :DMake up foundation completely got into camera; blank black screen but options and old pics still show.?
The Canon D1000 doesn't exist. You could be talking about either a Canon PowerShot SD1000 (Digital IXUS 70) or the Canon EOS 1000D, two very different cameras.

However, from what you've told us it could be a very simple fix. Press the button that says 'Disp.' a few times. (In the images I've provided I have circled the button in red.)

See if that works and get back to us.
